Beyond the Bench
Message from the Vice Chancellor and Director

Charting the Course

We stand at the forefront of a revolution in cancer care, where the promise of cellular therapeutics is rapidly becoming a reality. These innovative treatments, which harness the power of a patient’s own cells, represent one of the most exciting advancements in modern medicine.

This year, we took a major step forward with a tra¬nsformative gift from the Cinelli Family Foundation to develop a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) facility. This state-of-the-art facility will enable us to develop and deliver personalized, cell-based therapies, offering renewed hope to people facing cancer.

Beyond cell therapy, our research teams are advancing numerous initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and exploring novel treatment options. Our newly established Center for Survivorship and Patient-Oriented Research, for example, reflects our commitment to supporting patients not just during their treatment, but well into survivorship.

We also extend our gratitude to U.S. Senator Jerry Moran for securing a $10 million federal investment to support our new cancer center building, which w¬¬¬ill expand our capacity to pursue groundbreaking research initiatives.

None of these breakthroughs would be possible without your support. Thank you for standing with us as we strive for a brighter future in cancer research and care.

With gratitude,
ROY A. JENSEN, MD
Vice Chancellor and Director, The University of Kansas Cancer Center
Director, Kansas Masonic Cancer Research Institute
