KU Cancer Center Investigators Honored for Excellence in Clinical Trial Enrollment

October 01, 2024

The University of Kansas Cancer Center, in partnership with its outreach network, the Masonic Cancer Alliance (MCA), has earned national recognition for outstanding efforts in recruiting cancer patients and survivors to participate in clinical trials through the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP).

The KU Cancer Center-MCA team, led by Priyanka Sharma, MD, breast medical oncologist, and Gary Doolittle, MD, medical director of the MCA, was initially awarded the NCORP grant in 2019. Recently, the team received NCORP’s Platinum Certificate of Excellence and was named a top 20 NCORP site for exceptional achievement in use of a Clinical Trial Screening Tool to address cancer health disparities. Additionally, nearly 30 members of the KU Cancer Center-MCA team received individual honors from NCORP for their work in engaging participants in clinical trials.
