Hao Gao, PhD, associate professor and director of physics research in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Kansas Medical Center, is a recipient of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine’s (AAPM) John S. Laughlin Early-Career Scientist Award. This award recognizes outstanding scientific achievement in medical physics for an early-career scientist member of AAPM.
Dr. Gao and his team are dedicated to the development of next-generation imaging and radiation therapy modalities, including proton therapy, FLASH therapy and minibeam therapy, for cancer diagnosis and treatment.
“I am honored to receive this research award, and I’m very thankful to everyone from my department and the leadership of the cancer center, The University of Kansas Health System and the School of Medicine, for fostering such a great environment where high impact research is possible at our institution,” Dr. Gao said.
